A videotaped interview of Cuban leader Fidel Castro will be shown on TV on Tuesday, his first interview since he underwent emergency surgery last year, a TV announcer said on Monday.
In a brief clip of the interview aired on Monday, Castro and the host of the nightly "Round Table" TV program, Randy Alonso, sat across from each other in an interview clearly conducted over the weekend around the same time Castro met visiting Vietnamese leader Nong Duc Manh.
During the interview, a healthier-looking Castro wore a red and white track suit instead of his normal military uniform, and appeared more vibrant, echoing the government's claim that he is recovering from his illness.
He commented on his meeting with the Vietnamese delegation and other issues of interest, the host Alonso revealed.
The interview will be aired at 6 p.m. local time (2200 GMT) on Tuesday.
The 80 year-old leader was forced to leave his post last year to undergo a series of intestinal operations, and has not been seen in public for 10 months. However, recent video images showed a less frail Castro, adding credibility to official reports that he has almost recovered fully.
